Oceanic: Imaging Ocean Climate Change Workshop

This workshop seeks to address how the visualization of the ocean – a largely ‘mono’, magnanimous entity whose eco-systems and connectivity to the well-being of the planet is largely ‘invisible’, can assist in the caring of the ocean. A critical dialogue between the visual arts, conservation and environmental science can be effective in re-framing these challenges as both scientific and cultural concerns pertinent to broader audiences. This workshop will query whether it is possible to bring into play trans-disciplinary and transcultural perspectives that will aid in a new visual reading of the ocean as in crisis. If so, what methodological paths might they take and what forms would those same outcomes comprise of?
